Give me my 2 dollars!

Apparently, we're paying a 3 percent fee on our cell phones to fund the Spanish-American War!

The fee began as a luxury tax on phones at the turn of the 19th Century. And we're all still paying for it today. Phone bills don’t specify that the tax originates from the Spanish-American War. It is labeled as the federal excise tax, which amounts to 3 percent of every monthly bill.

If the gov is charging me for this, the least they can do is attack Spain.

Ads

For the past 27 years of my life, it seems inevitable that advertisements are becoming more prevalent in society.

Sports Stadiums are named after banks and fruit drinks, I'm seeing advertisements on the floor of my grocery store, and I have to watch 30 minutes of ads before i get to watch 15 minutes of previews before watching a movie.

But, technology, how I love you.

I pretty much gave up on television, but now with my tivo, commercials are a thing of the past. With an extension for my internet browser, I now get to make internet ads go away. And now I barely go to movies anymore so those commercials are avoided.

Is the next big business negative ads? I among other people would be willing to pay to make these go away. Seems to be the way things are headed.

Awesome.

How popular are you?

Check out the website opinmind.com .

Interesting website. You can check out what the current sentiments are in the blogosphere for words.

For example, I put in IRS and there are 37% positive opinions and 63% negative opinions on the IRS.

But that got me thinking.....that sounds to high. You can view the sentences from where the program takes its opinions. Apparently, the program can't take sarcasm into account.

It's hard enough for me to understand sarcasm over the internet. For a computer it is most likely impossible.

Still, the website is fun to play with.

With friends like these......

"Television evangelist Pat Robertson and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran may not agree on much, but both suggested yesterday that the severe illness of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was deserved."

Here's the Link

Dear God, these people have no manners. If either of these guys want some respect from the mainstream, they've gotta refrain from these kind of comments. Fat chance.
